Get The Book

A pretty book that doesn’t deliver. That’s all there can be said about It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be, by Paul Arden.

It has nice ideas, but is too short. I want to learn how he came to these conclusions, why he decided, “Do it their way, then do it your way.” It is good advice, in fact many of the “titles” are good advice. But it won’t stick with me. It won’t be a book I remember.

Points of Value

  1. Blame NO ONE but yourself; it’s your fault. There are no excuses.
  2. Give away everything you know and more will come back to you. Ideas are open knowledge. Don’t claim ownership.
  3. Whatever is on your desk right now. That’s the one. Make it the best you possibly can.
  4. Find out what’s right about what you are doing, then dramatize it (80/20 rule).
  5. Don’t give a speech, put on a show.
